What is an Origin Order Block?

An Origin Order Block is a type of order block found at the extremities of the current range, also known as the External Range. These blocks often mark major turning points in the market. Because they sit at the far ends of a price range, they tend to act as magnets for price, triggering significant reactions such as retracements or reversals when touched.

Why Trade Origin Order Blocks?

Origin Order Blocks are a favorite for many traders (including myself!) because they offer high-probability trade setups. Since these blocks are positioned at key areas, you can expect strong price reactions, often resulting in highly profitable trades. Here’s how I take advantage of them:

  When trading with the trend, you’re usually waiting for a 90% retracement of the current range. While these large retracements don’t always occur, when they do, they often result in high reward-to-risk trades.
• Origin Order Blocks Against the Trend:
  If you trade against the current higher timeframe trend, the trade should be viewed as a scalp. These trades typically yield fewer pips 📉, as price can easily reverse back into the trend, putting your trade at risk of breaking even.
